Once upon a time there was a nice local business. This business needed more customers, but the economy was bad and money was tight. Every month the business would get just enough customers to earn just enough cash to just barely pay all of it’s expenses, with no cash left over for business improvement, or emergencies, and certainly not for luxuries. One day the nice local business joined a Barter Company called Richwell Barter & Trade Network.

As a Richwell Barter member, the nice local business agreed to accept a second type of currency, called Barter Dollars, as payment for it’s products and services. So the business kept all the same cash customers it had before, but the business ALSO started getting NEW customers from the other Richwell Barter members who paid the nice local business with Barter Dollars. The Richwell Barter company’s job was to always be finding more members, make sure all the members knew about all the other members, and was the “bank” that made it easy to keep track of all the transactions.

Now the nice local business saw how SMART it was start paying with Barter Dollars, for many of the things they once paid for with cash. So they paid as many things as they could with Barter Dollars (like accounting, tax preparation, printing, advertising, computer repair, web design, lawn service, pool service, chiropractor, eye doctor/glasses, and many, many, MANY more) and the few things they couldn’t, they paid with cash (mortgage, power bill).

They could even borrow Barter Dollars from Richwell Barter, just like a credit card or a cash loan, to buy things they wanted or needed. BUT, unlike credit cards or cash loans, there was NO INTEREST charged on Barter Dollar loans. Because of this, whenever the business needed to borrow, they ONLY borrowed interest free Barter Dollar loans. They NEVER borrowed cash again, and NEVER paid interest charges, ever again. And with all the cash they saved, not paying interest, the business owners were able to purchase their own private island in the South Pacific . . . . near Tahiti. Plus their own private plane, with pilot, to fly them there.

By joining Richwell Barter and agreeing to take a second currency, the nice local business got more customers, and therefore more total income, even in a bad economy. But this created a whole new problem. Cash left over at the end of each month. At first they didn’t know what to do with all the leftover cash, and they considered buying a second private island, but in the end they decided to put it into a cash bank and just leave it there. – And they lived Happily Ever After.
